Re: LwICT Workshop and Study Group Meeting

November 20 9:00 - 12:00 Mapleton School Lab

The LwICT Implementation Team will be holding a morning workshop on classroom Web Page creation using First Class Web Publishing. Teachers will walk through the process and have time to start working on their own classroom web page.

The subs for all LwICT Study Group members will be covered by the LwICT budget. If schools wish to send any additional teachers the school will cover sub costs.

November 20 1:00 - 3:30 Mapleton School Lab

The LwICT Study group will hold their regular meeting. The focus for the afternoon will be a review of both Apple and Windows installed school applications, eg. Inspiration, Comic Life, MS Office, some web 2.0 apps.etc. Study Group members are asked to bring their LwICT continuum. We will be working with partners, however, if you wish to use your own computer, please bring it and the power cord with you. If any members work on Windows laptops at school they are asked to bring them as well.

Procedure: In groups of 2, you will explore the given applications or sites as deeply as possible. Consider how the application matches the big ideas of the continuum. Think about how you and your partner would use the application in your school with your students. Be prepared to share you ideas verbally and/or in writing on your wiki space. Be sure to provide specific actions, activities, tasks. ie. I would use inspiration to create story maps to illustrate guided reading and literature circles demonstrating character development. This demonstates "gather and make sense" G-2.4, G-3.2...

2. A look at second term report assessment insert and how to use the continuum to fill in the insert.
